Description: A widespread and variable species found in Sulawesi, the Moluccas, and New Guinea. The lower pitchers have a wide peristome and are often spotted with varying shades of red and/or purple. Closely related to N. veitchii and N. fusca of Borneo. Cultivation recommendations: A very easy to grow plant suitable for a wide range of temperatures. Some highland forms of N. maxima can be grown in a warm lowland greenhouse.
